My favorite book when I was small enough to have books read to me was Noisy Nora by Rosemary Wells. Mom recently (within the past year or so) tracked down a copy from when I was little with the original illustrations. I wasn't a very noisy or rambunctious child, so I suspect there was the appeal of the forbidden that drew me to the story. The book I fell in love with once I was reading on my own was Mr. Popper's Penguins by Richard Atwater. Penguins have been my favorite animal for as long as I can remember, and I was just thrilled to read an entire book about penguins. Mr. Popper has a prominent place on my shelf, and I'm looking forward to reading the book to Michael. (Aaaannnnd...I discovered they are ruining my childhood favorite...Jim Carrey set to star in Mr Popper's Penguins.)

The book YA book that I came to love as an adult is Oh, the Thinks You Can Think by Dr. Seuss, which I explained in Day 4.

However, Michael and I have read some really fantastic books together. His latest delight are the Skippyjon Jones books by Judy Schachner; the Olivia books by Ian Falconer, and Bats at the... series by Brian Lies. (Not to mention the other 600+ children's books gracing our shelves that he loves.)
