That'd be Sarah Rees Brennan's The Demon's Lexicon (June 2009).
Name a book that you like to have easily accessible?
My nature lexicon, to look up unknown birds when I spot them on nearby trees. FYI: some of them are freaking loud here, and I like to know who's screaming at me ;)
Name a book that you like to have easily noticeable (for reasons of pretension or 'cause it's pretty)?
Serial Killers Lexicon (Peter & Julia Murakami) which a friend got me for Christmas years ago. It confused my Mum then, and it still draws funny reactions from people ;)
What's the nicest book or set of books that you own?
My precious 1979 edition of The Neverending Story (Michael Ende). It's magnificent, really (deep red, white jacket with ornaments, coloured print, drawings for each chapter) and took some time to aquire. This is the very first book that got stuck in my mind, and I remember sitting on a tree about 20 years ago - and falling in love :)
What's the most battered, most loved book that you own?
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (J.K. Rowling), paperback. I've been reading it on the beach for the first time, and several times after, in different places. It is what you call well-thumbed, and introduced me to another love of mine.
Have you encountered a book that felt especially nice to hold?
Uhm... that'd be The Neverendig Story again, but that's about feelings. I love all books, old or new, and what gets to me most is the smell. But I do generally like UK paperbacks with ornate/embossed covers (not sure what the English word for that is).
Do you arrange books by author, title, genre, vibe, colour or not at all?
I try to keep a system of genres, as in "Historical", "General Knowledge", "Horror", "Fantasy" and so on, and there I sort by author (where applicable).
Do library / borrowed books feel as nice as books you own?
Of course not... because I eventually have to give them back ;)
What format of book do you most like holding? (ie, paperback, hardback, trade paperback, graphic novel...)
All forms of paperback, especially the UK ones (because, strangly, they're lightweights, compared to German editions).
Do you have any hidden books?
Uh, not that I know of.
What books would you keep in your (real or hypothetical) spare room for guests to read?
Never thought about that. Probably some light reading like the Cat Crime Fiction series by Rita Mae Brown, and some Garfield.
