I was having a difficult time coming up with an answer to this question. I don't tend to read books with a character I find annoying. I kept coming back to Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter, but I really like her character anyway, and I don't find her nearly as annoying when I read the books as opposed to listening to them on audio (Jim Dale's Luna drives me batty!) Then, I remembered Q. I used to devour the Star Trek: The Next Generation novels when I was a teen, and always hated any that involved Q (same went for his on-screen character). He's a prat and I really just want to smack the hell out of him. I think a lot of my annoyance comes from John de Lancie (on-screen actor who plays the part), but it definitely crosses over in to print for me.
